Our team created a digital twin of retail store located in the shopping mall complex using Autodesk Tandem software–reducing missed inspection time by 90% By combining laser scanning, intelligent modeling, and asset element and IoT sensor data in Tandem extended through our mobile app, we empower plant management to monitor assets and make more-informed business decisions. Dawood integrated our native mobile application—built with Flutter, Supabase, and BuildShip—to record equipment inspections. Elements are tagged with QR codes, enabling rapid information access. This allows for data exchange between the mobile app and digital twin using the Tandem API—making it the single source of truth. This allows on-site engineers to access information on the go to complete daily inspections and send inspection data to the digital twin so that management can assess and respond to events in real time. Automated reminders reduce incidents.

With new technologies emerging, we're always on the road to explore the digital factory. In this class, we'll share the best practices and approaches regarding the digital factory. First, drive increased efficiency of the factory design and optimization based on CAD workflow and FlexSim process simulation, which is essential for the digital factory. Next, ensure the objects can be tracked throughout the whole lifecycle; we built a "Factory Object TAG Rules" system for digital delivery. Finally, connected IoT devices help realize digital twins to streamline, automate, and predict tasks. And we explore AI to reinforce human intelligence so that it can achieve more.

Saudi Arabia is undertaking a monumental task: constructing the world's largest coral reef nursery in the Red Sea to preserve and reproduce coral reefs for future generations amidst rising temperatures. Egis, as the Project Management Consultant for this endeavor, has harnessed the Autodesk environment to establish a seamless workflow from Revit to ACC to Tandem, facilitating the creation of a digital twin for the project. Tandem serves as the singular source of truth for this initiative, consolidating documentation and models from ACC, along with real-time data from IoT devices to monitor conditions conducive to coral growth in vitro. Throughout 15 years of collaboration, Windover Construction and Endicott College have embarked on more than 25 design-build projects, transforming the campus located on Boston's North Shore to accommodate growing student enrollment. This partnership has seen the construction of new classrooms, laboratories, and residence halls, as well as a student center, a main dining hall, and an auditorium. The trust Endicott placed in Windover empowered the firm to become a steward of the college's growth, interweaving the institution's history and vision into each project. This case study will explore the digital transformation journey from scan-to-building information modeling (BIM), digital handover, and the innovative use of digital twins and IoT to enable real-time data collection, enhancing facilities management, and paving the way for a smarter, more efficient campus. Learn the workflow to place embankment around the coastal regions by using InfraWorks software to create a conceptual design. Use Flood Simulation to simulate, visualize, and analyze 2D flood simulations in the model and export from InfraWorks to Civil 3D software for the detailed design, with all the model information. Finally, use IoT to monitor the embankment after construction. This system will enable early detection of disturbing phenomena or events occurring in the flood embankments, thus enabling early response and prevention of crisis.

As engineers, we solve problems by evaluating inputs, outputs, and boundary conditions. Engineers have attempted to solve problems surrounding the effects of global poverty since it has existed, but often neglect important historical and political inputs. Neglecting these inputs has resulted in growing global inequalities in terms of wealth, human rights, and livelihood. One factor leading to these disparities is how we go about measuring progress toward a more equitable world. How can engineering help effectively measure global inequalities and give justice to vulnerable people who have been and continue to be excluded and exploited, all while bearing the brunt of the ecological impact of climate change? In this class, we will discuss better ways of measuring inequalities, designing for environmental justice, and bringing the industry’s attention to these systemic and historical realities which are often ignored by practitioners.

Autodesk Research has been exploring the intersection of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and Internet of Things (IoT) for the last decade. Project Dasher (http://dasher360.com) integrates sensor data with model data from Autodesk's Forge platform to contextualize IoT data in 3D. This session will look at what is happening with Dasher, but also will talk in detail about the Forge capabilities that Dasher has used—which are available to all Forge developers—to build a digital twin integrating real-world performance data.

You will learn how to model a digital twin of your machine assets, and (using a little business logic along with our point-and-click tools) you will learn how to build an Internet of Things application that turns your data into actionable events—visual status and graphs that you can capitalize on to collect operational feedback instantaneously from your customers and improve design or build unique value business offerings based on your products. This session features SeeControl (now Fusion Connect) and Fusion Connect.

The class will be a lecture on the EQ house, the actually built architecture that AI and IoT deployed. It was completed in March of 2019. Installed with advanced IoT technology and AI, EQ House is expected to be attached by the owner as if it were life-like architecture. It is installed with varied sensors to perceive environmental status and accumulates data about the owner’s preference by means of “like” buttons from the smart watch. The experimental design, inspection, and fabrication process was also needed to actually realize the futuristic architecture of the EQ House. By using the optimization process, the design period to determine the pattern of the facade decreased by 60% and through the inspection using BIM 360 Docs software and mixed reality decreased 20%, and the fabrication by 25%.
